The heart and soul of Agate Bay is the ore docks. This is what makes Agate Bay what it is today, a hub for shipping activities in the Minnesota mining industry.
In existence since 1884, millions of tons of iron ore have been shipped out of Two Harbors to make products used to build America and even throughout the world. The ore dock is 1,368 feet long and allows plenty of room for the 1,000 foot ore boats to enter and load their cargo of taconite pellets (iron ore pellets).
